Vol. 4, No. 365, December 31, 2019

4365 - Who's Dat?

Yesterday Oldest Miller was showing off her new art set and coloring book. She invited me to color with her, offering up this owl picture. She colored the portion colored with the lightest pink and I colored the rest.

4323 - What Happens Happens.

As I was cleaning at the Middle School, I found two oil pastel stubs. They were tiny so I decided I would just throw them away. Then I thought, what would happen if I smashed them together on a paper? I decided to try. The end result is neat. I wanted to do a black watercolor wash over the top,but I didn't get time. Maybe tomorrow.

Vol. 4, No. 251, September 8, 2019

4251 - What Not To Do.

Like last year, my 6th graders are beginning the school year with a Van Gogh inspired flower collaboration. Each student will make one flower to hang in the hallway, creating a large bouquet. The flowers are colored with oil pastels and one thing students struggle with is blending the colors. I decided to create a large example showing the correct and incorrect way to color. On the left, the petal colors blended because of the vertical coloring. On the right, you can see sections of color created by coloring horizontally.

Vol. 4, No. 158, June 7, 2019

4158 - Bloomin’ Ideas.

The back page of yesterday’s coloring book page was this page of flowers. It was Becca's idea to color it today. Unfortunately she left yesterday, so was unable to help. I did get help from Margo, my mom, and the Miller Littles. This page wasn't as daunting of a task as yesterday's lines.

4157 - Oh The Places You’ll Go.

Yesterday during Miller Time, the Miller Littles wanted to color. So I pulled grabbed an adult coloring book and randomly chose a page. Everyone said the swirls reminded them of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh The Places You’ll Go”.  I began coloring with CAT, later Becca joined in. When it was time to leave Miller’s, it still wasn’t finished, so I brought it home. This morning, Margo finished it for me.
