My Creative Marathon started on January 1, 2016, when I began doing a daily creative activity following a prompt from a book. This blog is a catalog each step of my creative marathon, 365 days and beyond. My marathon can also be followed on Instagram @rm.hansen

Vol. 4, No. 262, September 19, 2019
4262 - Bunch O’ Dots.
During my classes at the middle school, while students were working on projects, I made these fun signs for the 7th grade dot display. Instead on doing a clump like online examples showed, we are creating a long line of dots creating continuous rainbows. At the end of every section, I am going to hang a quote dot. In retrospect, I should have put different quotes on each dot, but I wasn’t feeling very creative at the time. Maybe I will make some now to have ready for next year. I drew the circles and wrote the words, then I had a student “make them pretty” for me.

Vol. 4, No. 188, July 7, 2019
4188 - First Game.
Every year, my family tries to make it to at least one Twins game together. When planning for this year, we knew that we wanted to do it after Eleanor was born, and on a weekend, as to not interfere with everyone’s work schedules. Today was the only day that worked.
To commemorate Eleanor’s first Twin’s Game, we made a sign. Becca sketched everything out and I painted it. The Twins lost 4-1 after 11 innings.

4099 - Not Forgotten.
Remember a few months ago when I bought a car rather than making a Confirmation gift for CC? Well when I got home from the cast party tonight, I took a nap and then started pondering what to do for my project. That’s when I decided it would be a great time to finally get the present finished. I used calligraphy markers to write out a quote by St. Katharine Drexel (CC’s Confirmation Namesake), and used watercolors to fill in the background. If you look closely, you may notice a few “typos” so I will have to find a way to fix them. But for the most part it tuned out well. Now to buy a frame.

Vol. 4, No. 087, March 28, 2019
4087 - Happy.
I took a 3 minute break during my prep time today to make my list. The first thing on my list was climbing into my bed when after it has been made up. I especially like this when the sheets are freshly laundered and line dried outside, but that’s a different story. So for my sign, I used my Mr. Sketch Gel Crayons to write the words. I was going to use watercolors to paint the background, but I ran out of time, apparently I have to get school work done during my prep as well. I placed my sign on my neatly made bed for the picture, but it could actually be cute framed and hung in a bedroom.

Vol. 4, No. 015, January 15, 2019
4015 - Flash Mob.
It has been an exausting week, and it’s only Tuesday. Therefore, my project for today is very simple. I spent a lot of time thinking about my favorite song. Many came to mind, but most of them I like because of the memory accociation that goes with them. Then I remembered, “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” by Travis Tritt. I love this song and will stop and listen to it every time it comes on the radio. The best part about it is that I don’t accociate it with anyone or anything. I decided the title makes a great quote, so I made a small quote board, using some quick calligraphy.

4008 - Word On The Street.
I decided to make compliment cards. I painted a large paper with watercolor paint. When it was dry, I used a Sharpie to fill the page with compliments. I cut out the compliments so that I can leave them places for strangers to find. I know this isn’t the same a complimenting someone in person, but I like the creative aspect of this project.

4001 - Word Of The Year.
It's hard to believe that this is the start of my 4th year of my Creative Marathon. I am going to begin this year following the 64 Million Artists January Challenge. Here is the first prompt:
In September, my sister, Becca, shared some exciting news with the family, she is expecting. She gave us permission to share her news, but she didn't make it Social Media official until last night. Therefore, I also waited before doing any projects on the topic. It is with this news that I chose my word of the year 'Aunt'. I am beyond excited to become an aunt and can't wait for April when I can start fighting for baby snuggles.
