Every year on the first Saturday in December, the Litchfield Community Theater in conjunction with other area businesses and groups, puts of the Holiday Showcase. It is a night filled with beloved Christmas Carols, new holiday songs and sometimes even a winter story. I got in on the decorating portion of the event. 4328 - Teamwork.

Today, my family and I put some finishing touches on the family room remodel. We still need to hang pictures and setup the craft area, but the TV area is up and running! Now we can move on to decorating for Thanksgiving.

4145 - Centered.

Today I officially welcomed another Brother-in-law into the family, when my sister Jessica married Eduardo. It was a group effort to design and decorate. Each table was slightly different, but they all resembled this centerpiece which has red stones, white roses and tea lights.

The wedding and reception were both beautiful with a good mix of both American and Hispanic traditions. Congratulations Jessica and Eddie.

4079 - Puzzler.
Day 20:
Break something into small parts and put it back together again in a new way.

I took a more creative approach to today’s prompt. Today I “broke” my room at the Millers in to small pieces, moved everything 7 miles down the road to my parent’s house and reassembled it. I had to do a new set up in my room because I lost some of my previous furniture and added some new stuff. It was a long process, which I actually started on Sunday and will continue working on throughout the week, but I did do a lot today. The Miller Littles were excited to show off their strength as they helped load up the car. As I unloaded the car, I was a little sad that I didn’t have them with me, to make moving in easier.

To make this slightly more creative, I folded my blanket into an origami swan.

4070 - Aurora.
Day 11:
Use stars, planets, and other things found in outer space as your inspiration today.

The timing of this prompt couldn’t have been more perfect. My 6th graders are currently working their Northern Lights project. They practice blending with chalk to make the auroras and then add a silhouette landscape, as well as some stars in the sky. Today’s class was working on the silhouette and stars. I needed to demonstrate how to use the paintbrush and their thumb to flick the white paint into their sky, without getting it all over everywhere, so this was my example.

3357 - Rapping Wrapper.

Today in anticipation of Christmas, in 2 days, I decided to help my parents wrap presents. Okay, I wrapped one present, then decided my dad was better at and had him do all of the wrapping while I focused on the bows. Regardless of who did what, they look great under the blue and silver tree. Because one sister is gone on a trip right now, we aren't actually opening gifts until January 5th, so really the wrapped gifts are just for decoration.

3350 - Christmas Creations.

As my family gathered at my parents house to celebrate my sister's Birthday, we also decorated. I was able to skip out of the tree, but got assigned to  the  foyer. This meant turning the regular band scene into a Christmas scene, as well as hanging the garland and stockings on the banister. I opted to keep the foyer simple, with some assistance from my dad and Becca, I hung icicle lights and Granny's beaded garland. We finished it off with 2 small topiary-ish plants, some bows and a Christmas Gnome.

2331 - Holiday Cheer.

I was feeling a little lazy creatively today, so instead of making something, I did a little bit of interior design. I set up my Christmas tree and Nativity. Due to my laziness, I opted for a small table-top tree, aka the top section of my full, pre-lit tree. I may add a few more ornaments as we progress through the Christmas season, but I really like the look of just a tree and lights, so I might leave it be.

2237 - Classroom Chaos.

Today was another day spent getting my classroom ready for school. The best way to describe my project is by calling it interior decorating. I spent a lot of time running back and forth from the workroom, picking up copies and laminating posters. In all that running, I did a variety of little projects, labeling supply bins, making and hanging rule posters, and decorating the board among other tasks.
