Vol. 5, No. 126, July 16, 2020

5126 - If At First.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. This was my mantra while making friendship bracelets with the Miller Littles and CC this afternoon. CC taught us how to make a patterned bracelet and I really struggled to get started. I finally got it figured only to have a string snap about halfway through.  That was the values of pink. Then I finished two more the pink and orange bracelet was started by Oldest Miller and the one with blue was started by CC. When stating the favorite part of our day during dinner, we all 3 mentioned making bracelets.

4265 - Three Bees.

Today I got to help Littlest Miller celebrate her 7th Birthday.  We went bowling and I made her a bracelet.

4257 - I Want One.

This weekend, I got to hang out with N. We had lots of fun, but there may have been some bribing involved. In case you were unsure, bribing a three year old doesn't work very well. Regardless, I followed through with my bribe 'if you go to sleep, I will make you a bracelet in the morning.' N said she wanted a purple bracelet. So today while she was eating lunch, I braided a quick friendship bracelet. She was very excited and showed many people her new bracelet.

4206 - Failed Friendship.

I attempted to make a flat friendship bracelet with a watermelon pattern. It wasn't working out the way I wanted it to, so I switched to a Chevron pattern. This was looking better, but it was taking a long time. Therefore I changed styles again going to the rope style that I used the other day. Since it didn't go the way I was hoping I decided to gift the bracelet to Oldest Miller, she asked me to make her one after seeing the original.

4202 - Raspberries.

Today my family ventured to Hopkins for our first Raspberry Festival Parade. On the hour long car ride there, I decided to make a bracelet. A raspberry bracelet would have been boring as they are all one color, so I went with a watermelon design instead.

4200 - Rest In Piece.

Today, is my Grandma's funeral. One of the tasks that I was given in order to prepare for today's event was to fix Grandma’s Rosary which had come apart in multiple place. Grandpa Jim had given Grandma a pearl rosary as a wedding gift. We are uncertain that this is the exact rosary, we do know that I was in Grandma’s and obviously used.

My task was relatively simple as all I had to do was re-hook the chain and pinch the openings closed, but it was an important job none the less.

Rest In Peace Grandma.

4164 - Open Up.

Today's prompt: take a photo of something open. During Miller Time I read books to C.  When I was finished, I laid a book open on the couch, curving the pages to make a heart. Later after the Littles went to bed, Oldest Miller and I pulled out her MC^2 Gelatin Jewelry kit and made a patch of strawberry gems. I also spelt out her name.

4113 - Birthing Beads.

As part of Becca’s Baby Shower, everyone brought a bead or charm to put on a necklace that Becca will have with her as she is laboring. Today, Becca and I worked together to put the necklace together. Knowing that she didn’t plan to actually wear it, we made it just big enough to hold all of the beads. My contribution to the necklace is the pink bead with a flower on it.

3029 - Rewind.

I decided to redo day # 11, try something new. Last time I really struggled coming up with something new, today however, it sort of fell into my lap.

My local library was hosting a Jewelry Stamping class. As soon as it was advertised, I knew that I wanted to go, unfortunately, by time I remembered to sign-up, the class was full and I was put on a waiting list. As today dragged on without a call, I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t get in. Then at 3:30 I was notified that someone couldn’t make the 6:30 class. I was excited, but I had to rush to get cleaned up after art club in order to make it.

Turns out I’m not a huge fan of Jewelry Stamping; mostly because I’m not great at spacing. However, I was glad that I got to try it, and now I have a new wine glass charm!

2218 - Threads of Friendship.

National Friendship Day is a Hallmark holiday, one of those days created to sell cards. I decided to celebrate it anyways; however instead of greeting cards, I made a friendship bracelet.

2189 - Daisy Chain.

I was out and about today taking in various events including the softball tournament, Art-in-the-Park, and of course the parade. While waiting for the parade to start I looked around for something to use for my project. The most prominent thing was clover. I began picking the flowers and then braided them together to make a chain. I wasn't patient enough to collect enough long seemed flowers to make a full sized crown. Since Little Miller wouldn't wear it as a bracelet, we made it a crown for her bear instead.

2034 - Jewelry Repair/Design. I had some fewelry that was in need of repair, so for today's project, that's what I did. The Time Turner Necklace and the rosary just need jump rings replaced (that was easy). The bracelet on the other hand, need a complete redesign. It had broken and half the beads were missing.  So, I found new string, beads, and some chain and redesigned  the whole thing.
