Vol. 5, No. 090, May 28, 2020
5090 - New Adventures.
It wouldn't be a proper graduation celebration without a homemade card. After a Pinterest search, I decided to create a pop-up hot air balloon card. As I was pulling out supplies I came across a stash of old pictures entered in the county fair. I thought that the pictures would make great backgrounds for the card. The basket of the hot air balloon made a perfect money holder.

5088 - All Grown Up!
I can't believe that CC is all grown up. Today I got to be with her as she celebrated her 18th birthday. I was in the mood to create, so I made her a cute little Birthday Card.

5082 - Belated.
Last week I made a birthday card for a friend and then forgot to post it. It may not be the best card in the world, but the pop-up cake is fun.

5050 - Lost.
I’ve gotten a little behind in my posting. This project was inspired by Oldest Miller. As we were crafting at Wheel and Cog the other day, I read her all of the prompts that I hadn’t completed yet. She said that one thing she keeps losing is her blanket. She started making a card with flowers on it similar to the colors on her blanket. I helped her finish it, adding a heart.

5009 - One Staple Collage.
I decided to go with a cut paper mountain scene. I drew a quick sketch, then cut the layers from different colors of vellum. With 8 layers, I love how it turned out and will definitely make more. I decided to just hold it with my finger for the picture because I want to glue the layers down to make a greeting card later.

5008 - Winter Haiku.
In Minnesota, it has been very cold this week with the temperature dropping more every day. On Monday I heard people complaining about how cold it was, when it was still 30 degrees. They had a rude awakening when the temp was in the teens yesterday and below zero today. The cold weather makes me want to curl up with a hot cup tea.
Frigid temps outside
You thought it was cold Monday
Hot tea for me please.

4346 - Working Ahead.
Yesterday I also created a gift card to include with my work gift exchange present. I used the cover of a thank you card that I had created a couple years ago, and changed the words inside.

4115 - Lettuce Celebrate.
Continuing with my One Vegetable One Community projects, I created a lettuce greeting card. I used a wooden spoon to rub the pigment out of a lettuce leaf, leaving behind a silhouette. I trimmed around the silhouette and put it on a green card. The card won me second place at the Meeker County Fair.

4203 - Audience With The Queen.
This week I have a lot of Miller Time scheduled. One thing I thought would be fun was a chance to meet the Queen, AKA Miss Litchfield Cecilia. I decided to create a formal invitation. I challenged myself by creating a pop-up crown using a heart design similar to the actual Miss Litchfield crown.

4054 - Wedded Bliss.
Today I helped assemble the invitations for my sister’s wedding. From attaching the information paper, to folding the card, to attaching the ribbon, I got in on all of the steps except for stuffing. In the end, my main job was putting the tape on the ribbons for someone else to attach. I decided this could count as my project, because the invites have hearts on them. In order to not share their information with the hole world, I blurted out the information part of the invite, but you still get the gist of the invite.

3352 - Thank You.
As we enter the final week of school before Christmas Break, I decided I should begin making thank you notes. To show my appreciation to students (parents) who give me gifts, I made homemade thank you cards. While some of the designs are similar, each is unique. They even have matching envelopes.

3347 - Season’s Greetings.
Next week my work gift exchange starts. To prep, I started working on my gift and tonight I made a little card to put with it. It is a fairly simple card. Really the hardest part was signing my name. I may have spelt my last name wrong and had to change the lettering to fix my mistake.

3335 - Happy Holidays.
This morning I attended a Christmas Card making class at with my mom at the library. During the class we each made 2 gift tags and 2 greeting cards. One thing I learned is to always check your fingers for ink before toughing anything white.

3251 - Purple People Eater.
Is it purple or does it eat purple people? That was the discussion on the way to my cousin's wedding. We didn't have any wedding cards st home, so I had to make one and decided to do so using the wedding invitation. I made a postcard style card with a pocket on the back for the gift recirpt. I attached the card to the gift with a ribbon and binder clip.

3203 - Happy Birthday Margo.
It's hard to believe that my baby sister is celebrating her 21st Birthday today! When I was cleaning my house prior to putting it on the market, I came across the card that Margo gave to me, nine years ago, for my 21st Birthday. She would have been 11 years old at the time. The card was hand written with some block stamps for decoration. The card read " Happy 21st B-day Rosanne !! Time to drink!! (more than you did when u were 20)...but don't get too drunk!! Things might get wild. XOXO your littlest sis Margo"
I decided to get creative and cut the card apart, rearranging it to say "Happy 21st B-day littlest Margo. Time to drink!! (more than you did when u were 20) but don't get too drunk!!... Things might get wild. XOXO your sis Rosanne"
While I didn't get to see her today, I sent her pictures of every part of the card. She recognized it immediately. I will giver her the card when we celebrate both of our birthdays next weekend.

3200 - Mayzie In Palm Beach.
I thought about doing a real art project, but decided to skip it on account of it being my birthday. So, I volunteered to make the postcard prop for the play. The postcard is a letter from Mayzie; I think it is supposed to be to. Gertrude so that is who I wrote it to. I felt like Mayzie would have written in cursive using a pink pen. While Mayzie is actually sending the card from Palm Beach, the director, thought it would be funny to use a Twine Ball Postcard. I took a postcard that I had made for the Twine Ball a while ago, took off the Twine Ball information and added “Wish you were here”, the classic postcard catch phrase.
I mounted the printed picture on to cardboard, to give it some support and hopefully keep it from getting destroyed before the show opens next week. I even created a palm tree postage stamp.

3167 - Marching Madness.
This evening, I attended the Lake Waconia Band Festival. While waiting for the parade to start, I used a flier from the program to create a butterfly card. I didn’t have a scissors, so I just ripped the paper to make the butterfly. Then I decorated it with pen designs and finished it off by adding a head and antenna made from a strip of green plastic from the edge of a Ziploc Bag. I gifted the card to a friend who was at the parade with me.

3160 - Footprints.
Today I was invited for some Miller Time breakfast this morning. When we were done eating, I used Baby’s feet to make a footprint butterfly. One footprint was a lot wider than the other. So after it was dry I trimmed both feet to make them match. I add ed a few highlights and used Sharpie to draw in the body. Then I glued the butterfly on to a card and added a cute quote. I used the scraps from trimming to make a small butterfly for the envelope.
